Compatible Controllers
Note : The only controllers known to be compatible are the MSFF2, the Logitech G940, and the Iris Dynamics flight yoke. The other controllers
below are listed for reference purposes only. They may or may not work with FS Force when running
recent versions of Windows, due to driver unavailability.
Joysticks
- Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2. I list this one first because it is my
favorite joystick. It reproduces forces with precision. Things like centering forces, vibrations and damping are all
programmed just the way you would expect them. It uses high quality servos, which result in forces and
resistance to motion which are very smooth. It is a very accurate joystick, and it has a solid, well
built feel to it. It doesn't have the stongest forces (see the G940 for that), but overall it is a real winner. Unfortunately Microsoft discontinued it some
time ago, but you can often find used ones on eBay or other such sites. It still works with Windows
10, although you may need to configure
Device Installation Settings to get Windows to search online for the necessary driver.
- Logitech G940. This is a great joystick with many outstanding qualities. It
has higher force strength than the MSFF2 mentioned above, but in all other areas I would say it comes in
slightly below that joystick. If the MSFF2 was a 10 out of 10, I would give this joystick a 9.
It has recently gone out of production, but you should be able to get it from any number of sources.
Note that this is a full flight system (joystick, throttle unit and rudder
pedals), so the price will be a bit higher.
- Logitech Force 3D Pro. I've never actually tried this joystick, but I'm going to
go out on a limb and guess that it is very similar to the Strike Force 3D (see below) in terms of its force
feedback capabilities. Drivers are available for recent versions of Windows, so it should work with FS Force.
- Saitek Cyborg 3D Force. This was a good joystick that worked well with FS Force
when running under earlier versions of Windows.
It was discontinued quite a while ago, and you may have problems getting it to work with recent versions of
Windows, due to lack of driver availability.
- Logitech Strike Force 3D. This is also a decent joystick that worked well in its
day. In terms of fidelity and accuracy of the various forces, it was better than the G940, but not
quite as good as the MSFF2. In terms of force strength, it was somewhat weaker than than the MSFF2,
and MUCH weaker than the G940. Unfortunately it was
discontinued a number of years ago, and you may have difficulty finding drivers to get it working with the most recent versions
of Windows.

Flight Yokes
-
Iris Dynamics Ltd. This is a brand new force feedback flight yoke just
released onto the market. It has very strong forces, reproduces force feedback effects with fidelity, and is professionally packaged.
