Installation error
I am getting an error during install process:
FS Force Setup:
"Error prodcesing exe.xml:
In einem XML-Dokument ist nur ein Element höchster Ebene zugelassen.
FS Force ma not launch properly."
Any solution out there.
Many thanks in advance

The exe.xml file is used by FSX to determine what addons to launch when it starts. It seems the FS Force setup program encountered some errors trying to modify that file to include itself in the automatic launch process. The file was probably corrupted to begin with.
A workaround would be to start FS Force manually. (Start FSX first, then start FS Force using the start button).
You can also try to edit the exe.xml file yourself to correct the errors. It is a simple text file. Or you can email it to support "at" fs-force.com and I can fix it for you. You can find exe.xml in C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX.

Thanks very much RussDirks,
I deleted the winchX aplication text in my exe.xml.
Exe.xml looks like this after the demo FS Force install:
<SimBase>
<Descr>Launch</Descr>
<Filename>EXE.XML</Filename>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Launch>False</Launch>
<Launch>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>False</ManualLoad>
<Name>AICarriers</Name>
<Path>C:\Program Files\AICarriers\aicarriers.exe</Path>
<CommandLine>-nogui</CommandLine>
</Launch>
<Launch>
<Name>FSForce</Name>
<Disabled>false</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>false</ManualLoad>
<Path>C:\Program Files\FSForce 2\FSForce.exe</Path>
<CommandLine>/FS</CommandLine>
<NewConsole>true</NewConsole>
</Launch>
</SimBase>
But at the end of the install process I got a message, even it allows successful installation completion.
FS Force Setup:
"An error setting permissions in the registry"
Opening the ProfileManager.exe in the following step will crash the app after the messages
no.1
FS Force:
"Unable to lacate a fore feedback joystick"
But Logitech Force3DPro is installed and connected.
Afte closing the message window, the FS Profile Manager CTD.
Seems all very tricky.
Do I have still a chance to try the demo?
Thank you for your kind support

Wow!! You're sure getting a lot of errors! I'm not sure where to start. What version of Windows are you running. Normally the setup program should run as an administrator automatically, but just in case it doesn't, try reinstalling by right-clicking on setup.exe and selecting "run as administrator"
This is what my exe.xml looks like :
First save a copy of yours, and try mine (edit the path to FS Force if necessary).
Try downloading the ForceTest program to see if it recognizes your joystick. If it doesn't there's something wrong with your joystick and you won't be able to use FS Force until it is recognized properly.Opening the ProfileManager.exe in the following step will crash the app after the messages no.1 FS Force: "Unable to lacate a fore feedback joystick"
This is what my exe.xml looks like :
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="Windows-1252"?>
<SimBase.Document Type="Launch" version="1,0">
<Descr>Launch</Descr>
<Filename>exe.xml</Filename>
<Disabled>False</Disabled>
<Launch.ManualLoad>False</Launch.ManualLoad>
<Launch.Addon>
<Name>FSForce</Name>
<Disabled>false</Disabled>
<ManualLoad>false</ManualLoad>
<Path>C:\Program Files (x86)\FSForce 2\FSForce.exe</Path>
<CommandLine>/FS</CommandLine>
<NewConsole>true</NewConsole>
</Launch.Addon>
</SimBase.Document>

Thank you Russel,
no other support was ever so quickly. Thank you!
Yes, I run the installalation as administrator.
I have a Vista 32bit system.
I did try your exe.xml but there is still the same error appearing.
FS Force Setup:
"An error setting permissions in the registry"
No, my joystick -Logitech Force 3D Pro- would not be recognized with your ForceTest. It is probably broken.
I am going to try a different joystick and before that I will reinstall FSX completely, which might be a good solution after having it for years together with different addons.
Maybe there is some registry failure.
I will come back after my FSX-reinstall challenge. Might take some time. Fingers crossed.

I am sorry for confusing you.
I have got both FSX and FS9 on my computer.
After trying FS Force 2 with FSX and getting the error during my installation process I tried FS Force 1 with FS9 to see if the installation could be done here without any errors. But the same error occured during FS Force 1 installation process.
So I have got no idea what to do now.

Russel, Thank you so much for your support!
With all your hints I gave it a new try and installed FS Force 2 demo for FSX again.
Even the error message
FS Force Setup:
"An error setting permissions in the registry"
occured, I started FSX game and in the addon menu I chose the "Start FS Force" button.
Yes, FS Force is working.
I have not tried all the functions, set up and test flying, but
as you said, it seems that the error is erroneous.
My Logitech Force 3D Pro had not been recognized, because I did not install the "Logitech Game Software" with the "Logitech Profiler".
Sorry for all the mess up and thanks again for your help which could not have been better! Best support reaction ever
After intensive testing I will come back and give you a feedback and hopefully it is worth buying it.
Best regards from Hamburg, Germany
