advice on joysticks

Post by curious » Thu Jan 01, 2004 3:03 pm

After a break from fs2002 i'm about to try fs2004. Force feedback on fs2002 was poor and put me right off FF joysticks but fs force has me interested again.

Since i'm about to buy a joystick, which FF joystick has provided you with the best experience? Was the programme developed with a particular joystick or does it seem to support one joystick the best?

Curious.

I just changed my pc and realised that I can't use no more the Microsoft Sidewinder Forcefeedback Pro since it has a different port...
Now I must buy another one...
Have no clue on choosing either:
-Microsoft Sidwinder Forcefeedback 2,
-Logitech WingMan Strike Force 3D,
-Logitech WingMan Force 3D.
Any suggestions...????

The Microsoft Force Feedback2 has the strongest feedback but Microsoft
has stopped selling them. If you can find one buy it! :)

Russ, where is that test of joysticks?? I remember seeing your results
but can't find it. Was it here on the board?

Ciao FaxCap,

thanx 4 your reply....
How come MS stopped selling FF 2..????
So now, what's worth...????
-Logitech WingMan Strike Force 3D,
-Logitech WingMan Force 3D.

It's a shame I can't get to use the Sidewinder FF Pro on the Sapphire Radeon 9600.....the port is different...

The MS Force Feedback2 should still be in the stores. Try to find one
before they sell out. :)

Here's a link to that comparison I did. I unlinked it from the main site for some reason?? Don't know why ... had a funny feeling people weren't receiving it well.

Thanks, Russ.

The MS FF sticks are not made by MS....there is another company who
made them for MS. Maybe the manufacturing company is in financial
trouble or maybe they wanted to raise their prices???

MS got out of the `game controller` business...

...because it no longer suited their strategy.

The cycnical might suggest that it was more likely because they couldn't get force feedback to work effectively with the very games that needed it most...

The articles I have read say M$ is losing huge amounts of money on
"hardware" and the are beginning to realize they should stick to software
only.

I still get the feeling Russ may get a phone call some day soon from either
Microsoft are one of the stick manufactures. :)
