FSFORCE cfg"missing some Aircraft

Post by peterhayes » Mon Oct 22, 2007 12:13 pm

Hi Russell
I have just downloaded a registered version of FSForce for FSX and I notice that it is not "picking up" all of the installed aircraft including some FSX default (Ford_trimotor, Jenny). The payware planes it is "missing" are the Australian Simulation Glassair and Piper Warrior variants (4) and the Eaglesoft Cessna CJ1. Carenado (picks up the 182Q and Long range) 182RG. There is no "=" sign in the cfg file and the software is the latestfrom your website.
Is there a fix or workaround for this?
Thanks
PeterH

Hi Peter,

Could you please post here or email me the [Profile Assignments] section of your FSForce.cfg file? That will usually give a clue as to the nature of the problem. In WinXP, this file can be found under "C:\Documents & Settings\All Users\Application Data\FS Force". Under Vista, it can be found in "C:\ProgramData\FS Force".

Everything seems to be ok there.

I think what might be happening is that you have an addon aircraft that FS Force is getting tripped up on. The easiest way for me to debug this is if I could have a look at ALL your aircraft.cfg files and panel.cfg files. There's an easy way for you to send me that ...
  • - Go to a DOS prompt
    - Type "CD "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\Simobjects\Airplanes"" (or wherever you have FSX installed)
    - Type "xcopy *.cfg c:\temp\ /S"
    - That will copy all .cfg files to c:\temp, with folder structures preserved. (You can specify a different destination folder if you want)
    - Zip that whole folder tree up and send it to me.
I'll run FS Force on that data and see where it fails.

Hi Peter,

I installed your airplane folder tree, and all aircraft showed up in FSForce, except the Ford Trimotor and the Jenny, which aren't even in the folder tree.

Try opening FSForce.cfg and deleting all entries in [Profile Assignments], and then run the Profile Manager.

Hi Russ
Cleared the cfg as you suggested and re-ran the profiler - unfortunately hno change the list was the same as before:

Can the missing aircraft be added manually? The Carenado planes are the mystery with some getting installed and others being ignored.

Yes, that may be the best way to go for now.

Missing aircraft

Post by peterhayes » Sat Oct 27, 2007 12:03 pm

Hi Russell
I Installed all of the planes manually but get an error message that says that this plane has no trim gauge installed. Click if you wish to fly. Then - FSForce stops with an error at offset 000a89d and exits to desktop. The next message is that this aircraft has no profile - I assign a profile the SIMsuddenly comes back into life and loads OK. But there is no trim gauge and this is repeated every time that you load the "missing" aircraft.

Can you give me a foolproof method of loading these "missing" aircraft (around 10) so that I don't see the error messages as above.
I'm still at a loss as to why some planes from the same maker are installed and others are left off the list. (For example there 7 Aeosoft DHC-2 beavers loaded but a further 3 or 4 are missing).

Thanks
PeterH

There may be some sort of problem with some of the folders or the files in them, whereby FS Force cannot access them.
  • - what OS are you using? If Vista, try running as administrator with User Account Control disabled.
    - check file permissions. FS Force needs read access to aircraft.cfg and read/write to panel.cfg
    - check file properties ... make sure files are not read-only
    - try making a second copy of an entire aircraft folder to a temporary location. Delete the original, then put the copy back in it's place

Another thing.
  • - right-click My Computer / Manage / System Tool / Event Viewer. Take note of recent errors under System and Application. Then run FS Force Profile Manager, then check for errors again. Report if any.

missing cfg aircraft

Post by peterhayes » Sun Oct 28, 2007 5:41 am

Russel
I am running WINXP Pro SP2
All cfg files are not hidden or read only ie file permissions are OK.
Have tried the copy technique and it did not work.
Will look at the log and see what errors are recorded. - NO ERRORS reported in either system or application.
What was offset 000a89d?

I should mention for the benefit of others reading this thread that this problem has been fixed and released in version 2.04. Version 2.05 was released shortly after which dealt with other issues.
